LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's tennis team faced Bridgewater on Wednesday afternoon in the WildCats' regular season home finale. The Eagles won the match 6-3.
The WildCats picked up one win in doubles play. Valentina Santos (Valencia, Venezuela) and Bailey Livingston (Evington, Va.) won at first doubles over the duo of Rachel Crawford and Malena Hoover 8-5. Zeinab Elkhansa (Charleston, W.V./George Washington) and Sabrina Dickerson (Brookneal, Va.) fell to Emma Nesslerodt and Grace Knighton 8-3 at second doubles. Jenna Fink (Madison Heights, Va./Amherst) and Cassidy Bell (Monroe, Va./Amherst County) were bested by Ryan Roeber and Emily Daigneault 8-1 at third doubles.
Santos gutted a three set win at first singles. After dropping the first set 6-0, she rebounded to edge out Hoover in the second set 7-6 and then cruised to a 6-1 win in the third set. Dickerson got a hard fought victory at second singles as she knocked off Daigneault 6-3, 7-6.
Elkhansa lost a tight match to Roeber at #4 singles 6-3, 7-6. Fink also had a close #6 singles match against Kaci Pitsenbarger as she was edged out 6-4, 6-3. Bell fell in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. Playing in her final regular season collegiate singles match, Livingston lost 6-1, 6-2 at #3 singles to Crawford.
