LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph men's lacrosse team faced Husson University in the first ever meeting between the two schools on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles defeated the WildCats 21-5.
Husson led 6-0 less than a minute into the second quarter. Randolph got on the board with 9:48 remaining in the period on a solo goal by Sean Landis (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette). The 'Cats scored the final goal of the second period with 49 seconds remaining.
Jack Dolan (Dumfries, Va./Potomac) scored twice for the WildCats to give him a team-leading 10 goals on the season. Landis scored once as did Leyton Brightly (Spotsylvania, Va./James Monroe) and Michael Baldwin (Culpepper, Va./Liberty HS). It was Brightly's first collegiate goal. He also had an assist.
Kyle Grundy (Warrenton, Va./Battlefield) picked up four groundballs on the day and caused two turnovers. Colin Murphy (Cedar Park, Texas/Austin) had a team-high four caused turnovers. William Olichney (Lynchburg, Va.) had 17 saves in the net.
Randolph begins conference play this coming Saturday as it travels to Randolph-Macon. Game time will be at 1:00 pm.
