LYNCHBURG, Va- The Randolph men's tennis hosted Averett in a non-conference match on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars won by the score of 9-0.
The WildCats lost both of their doubles matches by scores of 8-1. In the singles portion, Nicolas Alvarado (Santiago, Chile, Colegio Olimpo) went to three sets against Stan Martherus at first singles. Alvarado dropped the first set 6-2 then took the second set 6-2. The super tiebreaking set went to Martherus 10-7.
Alex Kulvivat (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) claimed two games at second singles against Shori Nishizoe but lost 6-0, 6-2. Bhuvan Ambekallu (Karnataka, India/Bethany High) took two games in the first set and one in the second against Maksim Sukhomlinov falling 6-2, 6-1 at third singles. Colby Cook (Smithfield, Va./Smithfield) and Jose Merhej (Fairfax, Va./Oakton) lost their respective matches 6-0, 6-0.
Randolph hosts Ohio Northern next Saturday. The match begins at 3:00 p.m.
