FERRUM, Va.- The Randolph women's soccer team faced Ferrum on Sunday evening at W.B. Adams Stadium. It was a defensive battle between the two teams as they played to a scoreless tie.
For Randolph, the one point gained from the tie is the first positive result against the Panthers since a 1-0 win in 2014. The WildCats' record now stands at 4-1-3 and 0-1-1 in the ODAC. Ferrum is 3-4-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the conference.
The WildCats outshot the Panthers 6-3 in the first half but only had one shot on frame. Ferrum did not have a shot on goal in the half.
The second half saw the Panthers hold an 11-3 advantage in shots. Randolph keeper Alexi Bossi (Falls Church Va./Justice) came up big for the WildCats with six saves in the period including back-to-back stops seven seconds apart in the 67th minute. Randolph had a look at a potential goal in the 84th minute as Alana Ellis' (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) free kick was deflected by Ferrum goalkeeper Ali Austin near the top right of the post.
Overall, Ferrum led in shots 14-9 and 6-3 in shots on goal. The Panthers recorded four corner kicks to Randolph's two.
For Bossi, it was her fourth shutout of the season. She is tied for second in the conference in that category.
Randolph hosts Roanoke this coming Wednesday at WildCat Stadium. Game time will be at 7:00 p.m.
