LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph volleyball team hosted Bridgewater in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match on Wednesday evening at Giles Gymnasium. The Eagles won in three sets 3-0 (25-17, 25-11, 25-16).
The WildCats' record falls to 11-13 overall and 2-9 in the ODAC. BC improves to 15-10 overall and 9-2 in the conference.
Randolph kept pace with Bridgewater in the beginning of the first set as it matched their opponent point for point. The WildCats led 6-5 but a 6-0 run by the Eagles gave them an 11-6 lead. The 'Cats closed to 13-10 but BC stayed out in front as it used a 6-1 run at the end to win the frame.
The WildCats trailed only 5-3 early in the second set but it was all Bridgewater. The Eagle lead grew from 9-4 to 20-7 as BC easily claimed the stanza.
Bridgewater led in the beginning of the third set but Randolph stayed close as it only trailed at one point 14-11. The Eagles ripped off five straight points to go on top 19-11. Randolph could only get its deficit to seven points as BC stayed out in front and won the set and match.
Brooklyn Finnerty (Lynchburg, Va./Timberlake) had six kills to lead Randolph. Madison Daniels (Warrenton, Va./Liberty) had 11 digs. Jayda Domenech (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) was just short of a double-double with nine digs and nine assists.
Randolph travels to Mary Washington on Friday for a non-conference tilt. Start time for the match is at 6:00 p.m.
