Volleyball Drops ODAC Match to Marlins 3-0

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph volleyball team hosted Virginia Wesleyan on Tuesday evening at Giles Gymnasium in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play. The Marlins would win in three sets with scores of 25-12, 25-12, and 25-14.

Virginia Wesleyan improves to 10-3 overall and 2-0 in the ODAC. Randolph falls to 5-6 overall and 0-2 in ODAC play.

The WildCats only trailed by three points, 10-7, in the first set. The Marlins used a 4-0 run to get ahead 14-7. A 9-2 run to end the set gave Va. Wes the set win.

Randolph trailed 5-3 in the second set before the Marlins embarked on an 11-2 run to move up 16-5. They would stay comfortably ahead as they claimed the set.

The WIldCats closed to three points on three occasions in the third set with the final time occurring at 17-14. Virginia Wesleyan's 8-0 run to the end the frame gave the vistors the set and match win.

Tomi-Lauren McGinnis (Ringgold, Va./Dan River) and Logan Warren (Chesterfield, Va./Steward School) both had five kills to lead the 'Cats. Vivianna Gustin (Virginia Beach, Va./Bayside) had a career-best 10 digs. Emily Barcenas (Lawrenceville, Ga./Lanier) led in assists with 12.

Randolph hosts an ODAC tri-match this Saturday. The WildCats first face Hollins at 12:00 p.m. followed by Shenandoah at 4:00 p.m.
