Men’s Soccer To Play Lynchburg in ODAC Quarterfinals

LYNCHBURG, Va.-  The Old Dominion Athletic Conference officially announced the field for the 20201 Men's Soccer Tournament. #5 seed Randolph will face host #4 seed Lynchburg Tuesday at Shellenberger Field. Game time is at 7:00 p.m.

How they Got Here: The fourth, fifth, and sixth seeds needed ODAC tiebreakers to determine with Guilford, Lynchburg, and Randolph each finishing the campaign at 5-2-1. The second step in the league's procedures -- the ODAC Five-Point Tiebreaker modified to apply to common opponents -- sifted thru the three squads with Lynchburg earning the fourth position. The WildCats will play as the fifth seed and the Quakers slot in the eight-team field in the sixth position.

Last Meeting: The two schools did not play each other in the regular season. The last meeting between the two was the 2018 ODAC Quarterfinals that the Hornets won 3-0 at Shellenberger Field.

The WIldCatsEvan Blow is having a career season for the WildCats with 10 goals scored that leads the ODAC. He also has a conference leading 21 points and 55 shots taken. Goalkeeper Zach Aylor has a 0.59 GAA and .846 save percentage to rank second in the conference

The Hornets: Luke Mega leads the team with six goals scored and is second to Blow in the conference. Ben Mackey has four goals. Kyle Gallagher has started nine games in the net. He has 26 saves and a 1.02 GAA.

ODAC Tournament History: Randolph is 10-11 in the ODAC Tournament. The Hornets have won 16 conference championships and have two other appearances in the title game in 2004 and 2011. Both teams are no strangers to playing each other in the tournament with a total of seven meetings and the Hornets holding a 6-1 lead. The WildCats' lone victory occurred in 2011 in the championship game at WildCat Stadium that Randolph won 2-1.
