Men’s Soccer Drops to Tigers 2-1

LYNCHBURG, Va.- It was a rematch more than a year in the making. Randolph and Hampden-Sydney met for the first time since the ODAC quarterfinals in November 2019 that the Tigers won 2-0 on their home turf. HSC came to WildCat Stadium on Sunday night and dealt the WildCats a blow as they came away with a 2-1 victory.

The WildCats got a couple of shots on goal early in the first half that were turned away by HSC keeper Gray Sutter. The Tigers struck in the 35th minute as Randolph goalkeeper Zach Miles (Lynchburg, Va./Brookville) came out to defend and inadvertently ran into Hampden-Sydney's Devin Kohout. Kohout was able to fire a shot that rolled past Miles and into the back of the net to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Hampden-Sydney upped its lead to 2-0 in the 60th minute on a goal by John Alexander. The WildCats were not going to be denied on the night as less than five minutes later, Kyle May (Raleigh, N.C./Millbrook) connected with Evan Blow (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville) for his sixth goal of the season to make it 2-1.

Both teams were physical during the course of the game with several fouls called. Four yellow cards were handed out with three given to the 'Cats and one to the Tigers.

Randolph led in total shots 10-7. Both teams recorded five shots on frame.
