LYNCHBURG, Va.- For the first time in four years, the Randolph women's basketball team will host an ODAC Tournament First Round game The #8 seed WildCats welcome #9 seed Ferrum to Giles Gymnasium. Game time will be at 7:00 p.m.
How They Got Here: Both teams defied the preseason odds to qualify for the Tournament. Randolph was picked 12th while Ferrum was selected 10th. With teams opting out for the season, both the WildCats and Panthers moved up the standings. Randolph defeated Ferrum and Eastern Mennonite for their conference wins while the Panthers defeated the Royals.
The Series: Ferrum leads the all-time series 8-7. Randolph has won three of the last four games.
In the ODAC Tournament: This is the first meeting between the two teams in the postseason. It is Ferrum's first appearance since becoming a full ODAC member in 2018. Randolph is making its 17th ODAC Tournament appearance.
Last Time: In Randolph's season opener on January 29, the two teams played to overtime where the WildCats came away with a 72-70 victory. Kylie Stark had an impressive collegiate debut for the 'Cats as she scored 24 points to go with nine rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Cameron O'Neil added 17 points while Lanaysia Gonzalez had her first career double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Kayla Cabiness scored 24 points to lead the Panthers.
The WildCats: Stark is the WildCats leading scorer with an average of 17.6 points per game. She also leads in assists (33) and steals (32). Stark leads the ODAC in both categories while she is second in scoring average.
The Panthers: Cabiness is one of four players averaging double figures for Ferrum. She is the team's leading scorer with a 14.5 average. She is tied with teammate Jacy Marvin in assists with 28 while Marvin has a team-leading 17 steals. Cameron Hawkins has a team-best 59 rebounds.
