LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's tennis had to abruptly change venues in its match with Guilford on Saturday afternoon. With rain moving through the area, the two teams moved indoor to the Crosswaite Athletic Club. In the end, the Quakers won 5-1.
The WildCats' lone win came at second doubles. Heather Whetzel (Grottoes, Va./Harrisonburg) and Cassidy Bell (Monroe, Va./Amherst County) defeated Hannah Arnett and Bea Niybixi 8-6. Zu Elkhansa (Charleston, W.V./George Washington) and Bailey Livingston (Evington, Va.) battled against Madyson Schreiber and Hannah Perdue and were narrowly defeated 8-5. Jenna Fink (Madison Heights, Va./Amherst) and Amada Jagdeo (South Ozone Park, NY./Flushing) lost 8-3 at third doubles.
Only three singles matches were able to be completed. Elkhansa fell to Schreiber 6-3, 6-2. Whetzel lost 6-0, 6-2. Fink was defeated by Niybizi 6-2, 6-1.
Randolph will host Washington and Lee this coming Wednesday. Match time is at 4:00 p.m.
