LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's tennis team hosted Hollins in an ODAC match on a sunny but cool Saturday afternoon. The WildCats had little trouble with their opponents as they cruised to the victory 8-1.
Randolph won all three doubles matches. Zu Elkhansa (Charleston, W.V./George Washington) and Bailey Livingston (Evington, Va.) cruised to an 8-0 win over the duo of Emily Jones and Elizabeth Eubank. Heather Whetzel (Grottoes,Va./Harrisonburg) and Cassidy Bell (Monroe, Va./Amherst County) were 8-2 winners over Amanda Dobert and Katherine Komarek. Third doubles was the closest one with Jenna Fink (Madison Heights, Va./Amherst) and Amanda Jagdeo (South Ozone Park, NY/Flushing) squeezing out an 8-7 win over Carlia Kearney and Isabelle Ingerson.
In the singles portion, Elkhansa, Whetzel, and Livingston were all 6-0, 6-0 winners at first, second, and third singles, respectively. Bell won her fifth singles match over Jones 6-1, 6-2. Fink was the last on the court and took a 6-2, 7-6 decision against Ingwerson. Jagdeo suffered the team's only loss on the afternoon as she fell 6-4, 6-1 to Komarek.
Randolph improves its record to 2-6 overall and 1-3 in the conference. Hollins drops to 0-3 on the season.
The WildCats will host Bridgewater next Friday. Start time for the match will be at 3:00 p.m.
