Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Methodist

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph men's lacrosse team hosted its first game of the season on Sunday afternoon as it welcomed Methodist to WildCat Stadium. The Monarchs won by the score of 16-4.

Methodist got ahead 2-0 in the first quarter. Randolph scored with 8:43 remaining in the period as Tom Stahler (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Township) dumped a low pass to Lee Tookes (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale) who scooped up the offering and deposited it into the back of the net for the WildCat goal. The Monarchs scored two more goals in the quarter to lead 4-1.

MU upped its lead to 6-1 in the second quarter. The 'Cats got one back as Sean Landis (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) scored with 2:36 to play. The Monarchs scored again before halftime to make it 7-2.

Randolph scored two more times in the fourth quarter. Methodist's Matt Pember was too much for the WildCats to handle as he scored eight times on the afternoon to lead his team.

Tookes, Landis, Matthew Piascik (Midlothian, Va./Trinity Episcopal School), and Jake Helsey (Midlothian, Va./Trinity Episcopal) all scored for Randolph. Helsley also tallied an assist as did Zach Miller (Louisa, Va./Fork Union Military Academy) and Stahler.

William Doyle (Louisville, Ky./Louisville Collegiate) had 18 saves in the cage for the 'Cats. He also picked up five groundballs. Stahler tallied four groundballs.

The WildCats are on the road next Saturday as they travel to William Peace. Game time will be at 7:00 p.m.
