Men's Soccer Vies for ODAC Title on Saturday

LYNCHBURG, Va.-  Then there were two. Two teams left to vie for the men's soccer ODAC Championship. By virtue of their 3-2 OT victory over #1 and previously undefeated Washington and Lee, the Randolph men's soccer team advances to the ODAC Championship game for the first time since 2015 and the fourth time overall. The WIldCats will make the short trip across town to face cross-city rival Lynchburg on Saturday. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.

How They Got Here: Randolph finished the regular season with a record of 12-2-2 which is the third best record in program history. The WildCats were unbeaten in their first 13 games before suffering their first loss against the Hornets on October 20. Randolph qualified as the #4 seed in the ODAC Tournament. They defeated Roanoke in the quarterfinals 1-0 before knocking out the Generals in the semifinals. Lynchburg went 12-4-1 in the regular season and are the #2 seed.  They won 4-0 over Shenandoah in the quarterfinals and 3-0 over Virginia Wesleyan in the semifinals.

Last Meeting: The two teams met just over two weeks ago at WildCat Stadium. The game was tied 1-1 in the second half until the 76th minute when Lynchburg's Zach Wheland scored the eventual game winning goal.

The WildCatsEvan Blow's 18 goals and 44 points are a new Randolph single season record that leads the ODAC. Noah Carney's 13 goal are second on the team and in the conference.   Zach Aylor has a 1.04 GAA that ranks seventh in the conference with his 56 saves ranking eighth.

The Hornets:  Luke Mega is the team's leading scorer with 12 goals. Brennan Lagana and Kenny Robles both have six goals each. Goalkeeping duties have been split among Justin Ennis and Kyle Gallagher with Ennis starting the last four games. He has a 0.89 GAA and 20 saves overall.

ODAC Tournament History: Randolph is 12-12 in the ODAC Tournament. The WildCats are 1-2 in the ODAC Championship game with their lone win coming against Lynchburg in 2011 which also is the last time the 'Cats defeated the Hornets. Lynchburg has won 17 championships and have one other championship game appearance in 2004. This will be the eighth meeting between the two teams in the tournament with Lynchburg holding a 7-1 lead.
