LYNCHBURG, Va.- With their 1-0 victory over Roanoke on Saturday, the Randolph men's soccer team advances to Wednesday's ODAC Tournament semifinals for the first time since 2017. The WildCats will travel to top seed and #1 in the country Washington and Lee. Game time will be at 7:00 p.m.
How They Got Here: Randolph finished the regular season with a record of 12-2-2 which is the third best record in program history. The WildCats were unbeaten in their first 13 games before suffering their first loss against Lynchburg on October 20. The Generals went 13-0-2 during the season. Washington and Lee knocked off Hampden-Sydney 1-0 on Saturday.
Last Meeting: The two teams did not play each other this season. The last meeting came this past March in Lexington. Randolph was held to one shot on goal and a W&L penalty kick in the 48th minute was all the scoring that was needed as the Generals won 1-0.
The WildCats: With his goal on Saturday, Evan Blow now has 17 on the year that ties the Randolph season record set by Corey Sindle in 2013. He leads the ODAC in goals and is five ahead of teammate Noah Carney's 12. With his seven assists, Blow has a league-high 41 points that also ties Sindle's season mark. Zach Aylor has a 0.99 GAA that ranks sixth in the conference with his 52 saves ranking eighth.
The Generals: Samuel Bass leads the team with 10 goals and 26 points. Michael Kutsanzira has a team-high 10 assists that also leads the ODAC. Michael Nyc has started nine games in goal for the Generals. He leads the conference with a 0.52 GAA and is second in save percentage at .857.
ODAC Tournament History: Randolph is 11-12 in the ODAC Tournament. Both teams have played each other three time in the playoffs. The WildCats are 1-2. The two teams last faced each other in the tournament in 2017 at Lynchburg's Shellenberger Field where the Generals won 3-1. The WildCats's last win over W&L came in the 2013 semifinals at WildCat Stadium 2-0.
