Women's Soccer Loses Heartbreaker to Ferrum on Senior Day 2-1

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's soccer team hosted its final game of the season on Saturday as the WildCats took on Ferrum. Both teams teams played a tied game late until the Panthers scored with under a minute and a half remaining for the game-winning score to win 2-1.

Randolph had the upper hand for the most of the afternoon as it led in total shots 19-4 and 8-4 in shots on frame. The two were scoreless until the 44th minute. Ferrum's Aubrey King sent the ball in off a corner kick that found Allison Setlak, who headed a shot into the back of the net to put the visitors ahead 1-0.

The WildCats nearly tied the game early in the second half but Ella Myers' (Cross Junction, Va./James Woods) shot glanced off the left post. Sara Bane (Blue Ridge, Va./Lord Botetourt) fired a pair of shots and then finally made good on her third attempt and she scored in the 52nd minute to knot the game at 1-1.

Randolph had a couple of misses that were just short of the net. The WildCat defense stymied any chance of a Ferrum scoring threat. Hannah Bane (Blue Ridge, Va./Lord Botetourt) was granted a free kick just outside of the box in the 86th minute that was saved by Panther keeper Abbey Hayes. Ferrum got a late push into the offensive zone as WildCat goalkeeper Alexis Bossi (Falls Church, Va./Justice) came out to defend. The ball made its way to Ferrum's Ashlynn Mitchum who passed to an open Jamie Adams for the game-winning goal.

Bossi finished with two saves in goal for the WildCats. Hayes stopped seven shots for Ferrum.

Prior to the game, the team recognized its graduating seniors. They are both Bane sisters, Marisa Santacroce (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory), Makenzie Collins (Roanoke, Va./Lord Botetourt), and Brook Ford (Buchanan, Va./James River).

Randolph ends its season with a final record of 6-11 overall and 3-7 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
