Sara Bane had a seven-point day (2g, 3a) and tied a Randolph game record for assists
Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's soccer team looked to end its five-game winless streak as the WildCats hosted Sweet Briar on Wednesday afternoon. The WildCats broke out for a season-high eight goals as they defeated the Vixens 8-0. The eight goals scored by Randolph were its most in six years.
Seven different WildCats got on the scoresheet on the day. Sterlyn Woodward (Banco, Va./Madison County) scored in the 14th minute to get it started for Randolph. Brook Ford (Buchanan, Va./James River) followed with her first goal of the season in the 24th minute. Sara Bane (Blue Ridge, Va./Lord Botetourt) scored her first of two in the 25th minute and Marisa Santacroce (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) tallied her fifth goal of the season in the 29th minute to give the WildCats a 4-0 lead at halftime.
The 'Cats scored four more times in the second half. Goals came from Joanne Torres (North Chesterfield, Va./Meadowbrook), Makenzie Collins (Roanoke, Va./Lord Botetort), Bane again, and finally Carlynne Wright (Lynchburg, Va./Jefferson Forest) for her first career goal.
Bane also had three assists in the contest. That ties a Randolph game record that was last done in 2014 by Austin Wampler and Leslie Harrison.
Randolph led in total shots 39-1 and 28-1 in shots on goal. The WildCats had six corners.
Alexis Bossi (Falls Church, Va./Justice) had one save in goal for the WildCats. Katelyn Meyer, who leads the ODAC in total saves, had 20.
Randolph travels to Hollins this Saturday. Game time will be at 2:00 p.m.
