LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph men's lacrosse team hosted SUNY Delhi at WildCat Stadium on Monday. The Broncos won by the final score of 20-5.
The first quarter was uneventful as the two teams were deadlocked at 0-0 for over nine minutes of game time. Delhi then scored three times in the last 5:46 of the quarter to lead 3-0.
The WildCats did not have an answer for the Broncos in the second quarter as SUNY Delhi erupted for 11 straight goals. Randolph finally got on the scoreboard with 27 seconds remaining in the quarter as Gage Tutko (Manassas, Va./Osbourn) scored off an assist from Jacob Ernst (Springfield, Va./West Springfield.
The Broncos slowed down in the second half but still managed to score six times. The WildCats scored once in the third quarter and three times in the fourth quarter.
Tutko had two goalsfor the 'Cats. Jack Dolan (Dumfries, Va./Potomac), Zach Miller (Louisa, Va./Fork Union Military Academy), and Matthew Piascik (Midlothian, Va./Trinity Episcopal) all tallied one goal. Ersnst had two helpers. Miller picked up eight groundballs and was 9-of-21 on faceoffs. James Greenfield (Woodbridge, Va./Hilton) finished with four groundballs and two caused turnovers.
Corey Boswell (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) had nine saves for Randolph. His replacement William Doyle (Louisville, Ky./Louisville Collegiate) came up with seven saves.
The WildCats (1-2) travel to Methodist on Saturday to face the Monarchs. Game time will be at 1:00 p.m.
