Women’s Hoops Concludes Season at Guilford

GREENSBORO, N.C.- The Randolph women's basketball team played its final regular season game of the season on Saturday as they faced Guilford. Randolph only trailed by 10 going into the final quarter but the Quakers outscored the WildCats 25-4 to go on to win 65-34.

Randolph trailed 10-2 with 2:23 to play in the first quarter. A Corrinne Anderson (Amelia, Va./Blessed Sacrament Hugenot) three and a layup by Hannah Bane (Blue Ridge, Va./Lord Botetourt) got the WildCats to 10-7 at the conclusion of the period. The Wildcats were behind 15-11 at 8:05 but Guilford then embarked on a 13-2 run to finish out the quarter and went up 28-13 at halftime.

The 'Cats still trailed by double-digits to begin the third quarter. Down by 16, Randolph went on a 13-3 run to shrink the deficit to six points, 34-28, with 5:29 on the clock. During that stretch, the WildCats sank three three-point baskets. The Quakers led 40-30 at the end of the quarter.

Guilford put the game out of the reach with a 12-0 run to begin the fourth quarter. The WildCats could only manage one field goal for the period as the Quakers broke the game open.

The WildCats shot 12-of-52 from the floor and 4-of-16 from behind the three-point arc. Guilford was 24-of-44 (54.5%) overall and 8-of-15 (53.3%) in three-point field goals. Randolph committed 11 turnovers to Guilford's 18.

Yanessa Cabrera (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson) led Randolph with 14 points. She grabbed four rebounds and came away with five steals. Cameron O'Neil (Gloucester, Va./Gloucester) finished with six points and four rebounds. Amber Garrett (Stephens City, Va./Sherando) chipped in five points. Bane had four points, three steals, one rebound, and one assist.

The WildCats finished the 2019-20 season with a final record of 7-18 and a 2-16 record in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
