Men’s Hoops Dominates Wasps 91-73

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph men's basketball team hosted Emory and Henry in an Old Dominion Athletic conference game on Saturday afternoon at the RAD. The WildCats dominated the Wasps in nearly all facets as they won 91-73.

The victory brings Randolph's record to 7-11 overall and 3-6 in the ODAC. E&H drops to 4-14 and 1-8 in the conference.

The WildCats led from start to finish despite the Wasps closing in late in the first half. The game was tied at 8-8 at the 13:17 mark of the first half before Randolph pulled away to go ahead by eight points, 16-8, at 11:53. The 'Cats were ahead 24-17 with 8:36 showing on the game clock before an eight point burst upped the advantage to 32-17. Emory and Henry closed to within eight, 42-34, with 2:17 left in the half but Randolph's 9-0 run to close out gave it a 51-34 lead at the break.

The WIldCat lead never dipped below 13 points in the second half. Randolph led by as much as 23 points with 4:26 to play before settling for the 18-point win.

Randolph had a strong first half performance as it was 18-of-36 (50%) from the floor and 6-of-12 (50%) from behind the three-point arc. Overall, the WildCats were 33-of-72 (45.8%) from the field and 10-of-25 (40%) in three-point attempts.

The WIldCats led 45-32 in rebounds. They also led in point off turnovers 16-9, second-chance points 20-4, bench points 36-21, and points in the paint 40-18.

Justin Dula (Taylorsville, N.C./Alexander Central) scored a team-high 19 points on the afternoon to go with seven rebounds and three assists. Evan Makle (Dumfries, Va./Christ Chapel Academy) added a season-high 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds. AJ Marshall (Lake Mary, Fla./Lake Mary Prep) scored 11 points in 16 minutes off of the bench and grabbed six rebounds. Brian Smith (Dumfries, Va./C.D. Hylton) finished with 10 points and four assists.

Randolph goes on the road Wednesday as they travel to Guilford. Game time from Greensboro, N.C. will be at 5:00 p.m.
