GREENSBORO, N.C.- Randolph men's soccer traveled down to North Carolina for a mid-week match with Greensboro College on Wednesday afternoon. The two teams were tied after regulation ended and went two extra periods but remained deadlocked in tie 2-2.
The Pride got a pair of shots off in the opening minutes of the half that WildCat goalkeeper Erick Cortez-Martinez (Winston-Salem, N.C./North Forsyth) saved. Randolph's first shot on goal came in the 19th minute by Gabe Krueger (Jacksonville, N.C./White Oak). After Krueger had another attempt denied at 20:51, the 'Cats were able to find the back of the net in the 24th minute as Evan Blow (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville) scored to give Randolph a 1-0 lead.
The Pride got the equalizer at 38:42 on a header by Jovan Cotton. The score remained knotted at 1-1 at the break.
In the second period, Greensboro went ahead less than four minutes in on another header goal, this time by Parker Spesock. The Pride defense stiffened as it would not let the WildCats a chance to get a shot on frame. Finally, the 'Cats got their chance and made good as Jamie Ford-Lane (Falls Church, Va./J.E.B. Stuart) fired a shot into the left side of the net and Randolph tied it up 2-2 in the 72nd minute. It was Ford-Lane's second goal of the season in as many games and it was the WildCats' only shot on goal the entire half.
In the first overtime, the WildCats had three shots on frame go for naught. Niles Brown (Dacula, Ga./Coral Academy) had a look at potential game-winner but his shot hit the crossbar. Both teams labored through the second overtime with only shot being registered for the entire 10 minutes of play.
Cortez-Martinez finished with five saves between the pipes for Randolph. Elmer Martinez had four saves for the Pride while Remy Brezault added three.
