Box Score MACON, Ga.- The Randolph women's soccer team completed its two-game road trip to Georgia with a Sunday afternoon contest against Wesleyan College. The WildCats trailed at halftime then tied the game early in the second half, but ultimately fell 3-2 as the Wolves scored in the 80th minute.
Randolph went ahead in the 14th minute on a goal by Jenna Rozenboom (Vinton, Va./William Byrd), the first of her collegiate career. The WildCat lead was short-lived as Wesleyan tied it up at 1-1 a little over three minutes later and then went ahead at 17:20. The WildCats would get three shots on frame for the remainder of the half but could not capitalize and went into the break trailing 2-1.
It was just over two minutes into the second half when Sara Bane (Blue Ridge, Va./Lord Botetourt) scored to tie the contest up at 2-2. The 'Cats continued to attack with a pair of shots on frame, three off target, and one blocked. The Wolves had their chance with consecutive shot opportunism in a row. Zoe Waring (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) denied two while a third was rejected by Hannah Bane (Blue Ridge, Va./Lord Botetourt) and a fourth went wide. Hannah Bane would come up again in the 66th minute with another denial.
Rozenboom nearly had her second score of the day in the 68th minute but her shot glanced off the post. Another attempt, this time at 78:52, was blocked by a Wolves defender. Less than a minute later, Wesleyan was able to get a shot past Waring and in to take a 3-2 lead. Randolph had one shot in the 88th minute go high as the Wolves were able to pull out the victory.
The WildCats held a 21-13 advantage in shots with both Randolph and Wesleyan registering nine on goal. Just five corner kicks were registered all game with the WildCats edging the Wolves 3-2.
Waring stopped four shots in goal for Randolph. Her counterpart for Wesleyan, Carlee Dykes, had six saves.
Randolph hosts its home opener next Saturday at WildCats Stadium as they welcome Marymount. Game time will be at 1:00 p.m.
