LYNCHBURG, Va.- With three games left in the regular season, the push for the ODAC Tournament is on for the Randolph men's soccer team. The WildCats took a step closer to qualifying as they shutout Eastern Mennonite 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Wildcat Stadium.
The win lifts the 'Cats to an overall record of 8-6-1 and 3-3 in the ODAC. EMU falls to 5-12 and 0-6 in the conference.
The WildCats dominated the scoresheet as they led 22-3 in total shots and 15-1 in shots on frame. Erick Cortez-Martinez (Winston-Salem, N.C./North Forsyth) had just one shot saved in goal for 'Cats.
Randolph got on the board at 7:29 when Gabe Krueger (Jacksonville, N.C./White Oak) arched a shot into the top right corner and in for the 1-0 lead. He would later assist Ben Gries (Lynchburg, Va./Amherst) on his goal in the 74th minute. Gries' shot deflected off Royals goalkeeper Ashmed Zaatar and in for the score. Zaatar finished with 13 saves
The WildCats will next host Bridgewater this Saturday on Senior Night. Game time will be at 6:00 p.m.
