Equestrian Hosts Preseason Tournament of Champions

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The defending Old Dominion Athletic Conference Champion Randolph equestrian team began its 2018-2019 season with the Preseason Tournament of Champions on Saturday morning. The team just finished out of any ribbons but still had a strong showing.

Michelle Smith (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend) had the highest place for the WildCats on the day. She was third in the Intermediate Flat. She was also sixth in Novice Fences. Smith also won the Tournament of Champions Low Medal Championship.

Abby Carpenter (Danville, Va./George Washington) and Katie Brown (Winchester, Va./James Wood) both had fourth place results. Carpenter competed in the Walk Trot Canter and Brown in the Walk Trot. Kirby Tidmore (Nashville, Tenn.) was fourth in Open Flat and added a sixth place finish in Open Fences. She was sixth in the Tournament of Champions High Medal.

Liz Bearisto (Bowie, Md./Bowie) was sixth in the Novice Flat. Molly McLaughlin (Owings, Md./Northern) came in seventh in the Intermediate Fences.

Next for Randolph is a show at the University of Virginia on October 13.
