Women's Basketball Downed by Randolph-Macon, 67-40

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Randolph College women's basketball team fell to visiting Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rival Randolph-Macon College on Tuesday evening in the RAD Center.

The YellowJackets kicked off the opening quarter with a commanding 18-2 lead but the WildCats made a comeback in the following period. Randolph decimated a 25-9 deficit off of a 9-3 run to close the gap to 28-18 with 3:59 remaining. However, Randolph-Macon responded with a 9-3 run of its own to secure a 37-21 advantage at halftime.

Coming out of the break, the YellowJackets continued to extend their lead, eventually settling on a comfortable 51-25 advantage. The WildCats remained determined and concluded the period with a 6-0 push, trimming the deficit to 53-31. Still, Randolph-Macon would outscore the WildCats, 14-9 in the fourth quarter to seal the 67-40 victory.

Lauren Moore (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) recorded eight points off the bench for Randolph while Daijah Johnson (Beltsville, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti), Kalyn Banks (Clinton, Md./From The Heart Christian School) and Breyanna Rice (Wake Forest, N.C./Heritage) each totaled six points. Alexis Calloway (Williamsburg, Va./Bruton) pulled down six rebounds in the loss to go along with five points.

Randolph falls to 4-11, 1-6 ODAC and returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 20 when it travels to Virginia Wesleyan University. Tip-off is set for 4:30 p.m.
