Women's Basketball to Repeat Pattern From Last Week

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Randolph College women's basketball team will follow the same schedule it had last week, as the team will play one game at home and one on the road.  Also like last week, the WildCats will be playing two Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) teams, which will be important for standings purposes as the tournament looms.

Randolph (9-10 overall, 4-6 ODAC) opens up the week on Wednesday, hosting Hollins University (4-14, 0-10) at 7 p.m.  This will be only game between the two, just as was the case last year.  However, that game last year turned out to be a thriller, with the 'Cats winning 65-64.  Jacqueline Hockman pulled down 12 rebounds during the game, while Taylor Samuels was one of three in double-figures with 11 points.  Jewellanna Parfitt scored a game-high 24 for HU in that game, and she has continued that trend this year.  She is seventh in the ODAC in scoring, and will bring a lot of attention from WildCat defenders in the clash.

On Saturday, Randolph heads to Bridgewater College (12-7, 5-5) for a key contest.  Not only do the Eagles sit one game ahead of the WildCats in the standings, but it will also be the first time the 'Cats return to BC since last year's ODAC First Round game.  Randolph played tough that game, leading until the last stages of regulation and Bridgewater escaped with an overtime victory.  Hockman also had a great game that day, with 13 points and 11 rebounds.  One other interesting fact is that the leading scorer the WildCats on that day, Rebecca Harvey, now plays for the Eagles.  The story lines and the importance on the ODAC standings should make this the game of the weekend.  Tip-off is at 2 p.m.
