Wojciechowski Gets Name in Record Books as WildCats fall at EMU

HARRISONGURG, VA – Noelle Wojciechowski had an impressive day defensively, but it was not enough as the Randolph College volleyball team fell to Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) foe Eastern Mennonite University 21-25, 18-25, and 19-25 on Tuesday night.

Wojciechowski registered six block assists in the match, which puts her in a tie for the ninth-most in a single match.  She started in the first set, as the WildCats and the Royals stayed even early on.  Wojciechowski combined with Brooks Gillerlain on one block and Alex Mariona on a second one that put the 'Cats up one.  EMU called a timeout, and following the stoppage scored 11 of the next 13 points.  Randolph fought back to within three points after a Wojciechowski slam, but the Royals took the first.

After being tied at six apiece in the second set, Eastern Mennonite went back on the offensive, and extended the advantage to seven.  The Royals held on to that lead the rest of the set for a 25-18 victory.

Randolph stormed out of the gates in the third.  After giving up the initial point, the 'Cats won the next five.  Wojciechowski had one solo block, and two assisted blocks, with Mariona and Nicholson helping out.  Nicholson had the other block.  The WildCats continued to put it on the Royals, with Mariona killing two passes, and Andrea Mewhinney getting a kill as well.  The score was 16-5 when EMU responded.  The Royals went on a major run, and despite a late Wojciechowski/Mariona block, it was not enough as Eastern Mennonite sealed the match.

Wojciechowski added seven digs and five kills in the match.  Mariona led the WildCats with eight kills, and Mewhinney assisted on a team-high 16 kills.  Libero Elisabeth Price registered 13 digs over the three sets.

Janna Williams had a game-high 11 kills for the Royals (6-6 overall, 1-2 ODAC).  Jasmine Johnson added a game-high of 27 assists and 13 digs for Eastern Mennonite.

Randolph (2-11, 0-4) will travel to Southern Virginia University on Thursday.  The match against the Knights begins at 7 p.m.
