Women's Basketball Evens ODAC Record With Late Surge at Emory and Henry

Box Score

EMORY, Va. -- Trailing, 64-63, with just over three minutes left, Randolph exploded offensively and finished on a 15-5 run, taking an ODAC win.

Randolph was led by 23 points from junior Abigail Bullins and double-doubles from senior post players Jensen Hoover and Allie Druffel.

Druffel scored the first points of the game, but that was Randolph's only lead of the first half, as Emory and Henry grew a lead as large as 13 in the first half at 31-18.

Randolph used an 11-3 run to end the half, however, with eight points from Hoover and a three from Bullins to trim the lead to 38-36 at the break.

Five straight points from Bullins leveled the score early in the second half and later a jumper from first-year Daijah Johnson put Randolph up for the first time in 25 minutes.

After two E&H free throws, sophomore Korin Harris nailed a three to put Randolph back up with 10 minutes left.

Randolph maintained a small lead for the next five minutes before a 6-0 run from the Wasps put them back on top.

Harris and Johnson both immediately made layups, however, putting Randolph back up.

With just over three minutes left, three straight points put the hosts in the driver's seat once again, setting up Randolph's key run.

Hoover and sophomore Jacqueline Hockman both made layups on consecutive possessions, with Hockman fouled on her bucket.

After a miss, Druffel and Hoover both saved the team's possession, setting up a Druffel jumper, giving Randolph four points on that single possession.

Two points from E&H were quickly erased when Bullins, who is ninth in the nation in three point shooting, nailed another three, making it 72-66.

Bullins hit four free throws and Johnson added two, icing the game down the stretch.

With the win, Randolph is 5-1 for the second year in a row. This levels the team's record at 1-1 in ODAC play, as well.

Bullins had 23 points, including four threes. Hoover had 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Druffel had 11 points and 11 rebounds. Harris added 10 points.

The WildCats are back in action on Friday with a matchup with Hollins that will be counted as a non-conference tiilt.
