Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Randolph shot well from the floor, but Guilford's size gave the team the advantage in a 66-61 victory.
Randolph (9-9, 3-6 ODAC)had as good of a start as head coach Allison Nichols could have asked for defensively, forcing Guilford into tough shots, hitting only one of its 17 attempts in the first 10 minutes of the game.
Randolph opened a lead as large as 10 and earned a 15-6 lead halfway through the period.
The Quakers (14-4, 6-3 ODAC) clawed back to take a lead at 22-21 for the first time, but Randolph responded with an 13-6 run to end the half with a 28-25 edge.
At halftime, junior Allie Druffel (Centreville. Va./Westfield) had half of the WildCats' points, hitting on 7-of-11 shots from the floor.
Guilford used a 12-0 run in the second half to get ahead, but Randolph stormed back from a nine point hole to level the game with 2:45 left on an Abigail Bullins (Asheboro, N.C./Asheboro) three with 2:45 remaining.
Immediately thereafter, Guiilford scored the next five and hit its free throws to ice the game.
Druffel finished with a career best in scoring, hitting on 11-of-18 from the floor for 22 points.
Bullins finished with 17, while junior Chelsea Tyler (Richmond, Va./Henrico) had 15.
Junior Megan Russell (Pinnacle, N.C./West Stokes) had three blocks to move into a tie for third place on Randolph's all-time blocked shots list.
As a team, Randolph shot 45.3% from the floor and 54.5% from three. Guilford only hit on 33.3% of its attempts from deep and overall, but attempted 20 more free throws and 10 more field goals in the contest.
Offensive rebounds kept Guilford in the contest, as the Quakers pulled down 14 of its own misses in the first 20 minutes, leading to a dozen second-chance points in the first half. They finished with 25 offensive boards and a 27-6 edge in points off of those rebounds.
The 2012 ODAC Player of the Year, Gabby Oglesby, led Guilford, the two-time defending ODAC champion, with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Randolph continues its road swing with a trip to Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday.
