Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Randolph won each set by at least 11 points to coast to victory tonight.
Randolph (8-5) is within one win of matching last year's total number of victories after its dominating performance at the RAD Center.
The WildCats got off to a slow start and trailed as late as 8-7 in the first set before scoring the next four and 15 of the next 19 to take the first frame thanks to a string of miscues by Bluefield St. (0-9).
The second set was a repeat, with the WildCats finding themselves in an early 8-5 hole, but the 'Cats won the next seven on the service of senior Sydney Henson (Winston-Salem, N.C./Ronald Reagan) to take the overwhelming lead.
Marissa McClinton (Bealeton, Va./Liberty-Bealeton) blocked a pair of attacks to wrap up the second set. The first of the sophomore's rejections was assisted by Henson while the second one was aided by first-year Skyler Wood (Concord, Va./Rustburg) to put Randolph up 2-0.
Randolph never trailed in the final set, taking the last five points to win 25-13.
Defensively, the WildCats forced a -.139 hitting percentage from the visiting Blues.
"We never lost focus," head coach Johnathan Willis said after the match. "We've accomplished almost as much as we did last year and still have a month to go to keep this going in the right direction."
His team returns to action at home on Tuesday in an ODAC battle with Virginia Wesleyan.
