Box Score 2 NORFOLK, Va. -- After going 2-0 on day one of the Virginia Wesleyan Invitational, Randolph split today's matches.
Coming off of two straight four-set matches last night, Randolph (3-1) came out slowly against Meredith, falling to the Avenging Angels (3-1) in four sets. The set scores were 25-21, 19-25, 22-25, 21-25.
The WildCats responded in the day's final match, however, dispatching of Rowan (1-3) to end the weekend on a winning note.
Lexi Harrington (Clemmons, N.C./West Forsyth) had 17 digs, Kerry McMichael (Westminster, S.C./West Oak) had 29 assists and Celine Rhodes (Barhamsville, Va./Jamestown) had 15 kills to lead the way.
Head coach Johnathan Willis sees this win as a strong indicator of the team's development.
"The difference so far in our team is our resolve," he said. "We are determined to make plays right now and it has really been a difference maker."
