Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

NORFOLK, Va. -- Randolph dispatched of Mary Washington and Johnson & Wales (R.I.) today to start the season off 2-0.

As the only team in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) to end the 2012 season with a winning streak, Randolph looked to start the 2013 campaign as well as it ended 2012.

Sweeping a pair of matches on opening day is about as good as it can get.

As part of the Virginia Wesleyan Invitational, Randolph played in the final two matches of the day, first taking on Mary Washington.

The WildCats won the first set 25-21, but fell 19-25 in the second.

In the pivotal third set, the team pulled out a 25-18 victory, setting up an intense fourth frame which was tied at 24.

After earning a match point, the WildCats put the Eagles away, closing it out, 26-24.

Jordan Templin (Ferrum, Va./Franklin Co.) had 17 kills and Marissa McClinton (Bealeton, Va./Liberty-Bealeton) had three solo blocks in the win.

After a quick turnaround, the WildCats took on Johnson & Wales in an intense battle. Each set was extraordinarily close, but Johnathan Willis's squad squeaked out a 25-23, 22-25, 26-24, 25-23 victory.

Another two matches face the WildCats tomorrow afternoon to wrap up the tournament.
