Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. -- In four hotly contested sets, Randolph earned a victory in front of the home crowd.
Randolph (9-8) earned a first set win on a kill by Sydney Henson (Winston-Salem, N.C./Ronald Reagan) after the senior took a pass from junior Kerry McMichael (Westminster, S.C./West Oak) to force a block error.
After falling behind 5-1 early in the second, the WildCats rattled off eight straight on the service of McMichael to get ahead.
After getting level at 18-18, Greensboro (9-15) earned seven of the next nine to take the set.
In the third, McMichael, who finished with 49 assists, served Randolph to six straight to get the lead midway through.
Five more on the service of first-year Skyler Wood (Concord, Va./Rustburg) got Randolph to set point, where junior Jordan Templin (Ferrum, Va./Franklin Co.) finished it off.
Templin finished with 23 kills and 17 digs, both match highs, after being shutout on attack in the first set.
Randolph opened a 23-16 edge in the fourth, but with just two points between the 'Cats and a win, the Pride battled back, ultimately coming up short after kills from sophomore Marissa McClinton (Bealeton, Va./Liberty-Bealeton) and Wood.
McClinton had 15 kills on just 30 attack attempts.
"I was impressed with our hard work and effort in practice all weekend. We came focused and ready today," head coach Johnathan Willis said. "We talk about writing our own history and how doing the little things well consistently will result in winning. Hopefully this will propel us into the tail end of conference play."
The 'Cats next have three more home matches, including two conference battles, starting this Friday.
