Knights Sweep WildCats in Non-Conference Volleyball Action

Box Score

BUENA VISTA, Va. -- Randolph is down to .500 for the first time this year after a loss today at Southern Virginia.

After a great start to the season, Randolph (8-8) has as many wins as losses for the first time all year.

The first set opened up close, but the SVU (10-6) lead grew when the Knights took seven out of eight points to increase the lead from one to seven.

The WildCats fell behind 18-10 in the second set, but stormed back with five straight on the service of first-year Noelle Wojciechowski (Greensboro, N.C./Page)

The run included a service ace, two attack errors and a pair of kills by junior Jordan Templin (Ferrum, Va./Franklin Co.).

The 'Cats ran out of gas, however, conceding the set.

After Randolph opened the third set up 10-7, Southern Virginia scored seven of the next eight again to take the lead.

With Kerry McMichael (Westminster, S.C./West Oak) serving, Randolph rattled off six straight to regain the lead. The junior had two aces in the sequence.

After the teams battled for a bit, McKenzie Weaver took over for SVU, as she had the match's final four kills to put a bow on the evening.

Randolph will have a chance to get revenge as part of Homecoming on Oct. 25 at the Randolph Athletic and Dance Center.
