The WildCats are 3-0 at home after a dominating three set victory over Bluefield St., on Friday. In the team's lone home ODAC match, Randolph toppled Bridgewater for one of the biggest wins in recent program history.
Junior Jordan Templin (Ferrum, Va./Franklin Co.) is fourth in the conference in kills per set and hitting percentage. First-year Noelle Wojciechowski (Greensboro, N.C./Page) is sixth in hitting.
About the Marlins:
Virginia Wesleyan is 9-6 and 3-1 in the very polarized ODAC. The Marlins are one of five teams with one loss or fewer, while the remaining seven teams each have three or more losses.
The Marlins have topped three of the four lowest ranked teams in the ODAC preseason poll, Hollins, Eastern Mennonite and Shenandoah, with their one loss coming at the hands of preseason No. 1 Washington and Lee.
Alex Lambert is eighth in the league in kills per set.
About the matchup:
Both teams competed in the same tournament to open the season in Norfolk, Va., with both teams ending 3-1.
Both teams defeated Johnson and Wales (R.I.) and Rowan, but Randolph bested a Mary Washington team that defeated the Marlins. Virginia Wesleyan beat a Meredith team that defeated Randolph.
In ODAC play, Virginia Wesleyan topped Eastern Mennonite, who stunned Randolph after an incredible comeback.
Virginia Wesleyan has won the last ten matchups between these teams, with Randolph's last win coming in a three set sweep in 2002.
WildCat to watch:
Libero Lexi Harrington (Clemmons, N.C./West Forsyth) leads Randolph in digs and services aces per set, two areas in which the WildCats will need to be effective.
The junior will need to continue to be a calming influence on the defense the rest of the way.
