WildCat Women Upended By Crosstown Rival Lynchburg College 60-41 Wednesday

                LYNCHBURG, VA – The Randolph College women's basketball team held Lynchburg College to only 16.7 percent shooting from downtown but couldn't convert offensively in falling to the Hornets 60-41 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action from Turner Gym Wednesday evening.

                The WildCats (3-16/1-10) struggled to score in the opening stanza, making only four of 24 field goals, trailing by as much as 20 after an 18-2 run through the middle of the period. Randolph responded though, netting the last seven points of the first half to trail by 13 at the half with a score of 27-14.

                After intermission, the WildCats chipped away and got the lead down to nine with 7:53 left in the contest following a pair of free throws from Chelsea Tyler (Richmond, VA/Henrico). Lynchburg would net seven of the next eight points, pulling away down the stretch.

                Tyler finished with a team best 10 points, also grabbing five rebounds and two steals. Tyler has now posted double-figures in three of her last four contests. Junior guard Emilee Dunton (Forest, VA/Brookville) scored nine points, while first-year Bria Carlisle (Chesterfield, VA/Clover Hill) added six points off the bench.

                Megan Russell (Pinnacle, NC/West Stokes) finished with a team-high nine rebounds for the WildCats, who shot 25 percent from the floor on the night. Randolph posted 16 offensive boards on the evening, but struggled from deep making just one of its 12 shots from behind the arc.

                ODAC leading scorer Shannon Allan posted 20 points for the Hornets (12-7/7-4 ODAC), with Chaney Forbush and Sammi Goldsmith each contributing nine points apiece. Lauren Penley grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds to go with nine points for Lynchburg, which held a slight 39-36 advantage on the backboards. LC also shot 43.1 percent (22-51) on the night, making 14-of-18 from the free throw line.

                The WildCats return to the Randolph Athletics and Dance (RAD) Center on Saturday with an ODAC 4:30 tip-off with Bridgewater College.
