Randolph Volleyball Drops Pair at Lynchburg Invitational Sunday Afternoon

                LYNCHBURG, VA – The Randolph College volleyball team finished play at the Lynchburg College Invitational Sunday afternoon, falling in matches to Meredith College and Lynchburg College, both in three games.

                In the opening match, the WildCats (1-3) struggled to receive serve, falling 25-19, 25-18 and 29-27. Randolph was paced in the match by sophomore Jordan Templin (Ferrum, VA/Franklin Co.) and her 12 kills, getting seven kills from Sydney Henson (Winston-Salem, NC/Ronald Reagan) as well. First-year Andrea Mewhinney (Sanford, NC/Overhills) led the team with 11 assists, and Lexi Harrington (Clemmons, NC/West Forsyth) had eight digs.

                In the match with Lynchburg College, LC jumped out on top early and never let the WildCats back in the match winning with scores of 25-11, 25-10 and 25-14. Templin again paced Randolph with six kills and was the only WildCat with more than two kills. The Hornets (4-0) hit at a huge percentage, posting a .486 hitting clip in the match. Templin and first-year Celine Rhodes (Barhamsville, VA/Jamestown) were named All-Tournament Team.

                The WildCats are back in action Tuesday evening for their home opener with the Fighting Squirrels of Mary Baldwin College in the Randolph Athletics and Dance (RAD) Center at 7 p.m.
