Box Score 2 LEXINGTON, VA – The Randolph College volleyball team were felled by two opponents Saturday afternoon, as the WildCats dropped an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match to Washington and Lee University 3-0 and a non-conference battle with Averett University 3-1.
The WildCats (2-11/0-3 ODAC) hung around in the first game of the W&L (8-3/3-0 ODAC), but would end up falling to the Generals with scores of 18, 16 and 13. First-year Celine Rhodes (Barhamsville, VA/Jamestown) led Randolph with six kills, while Sam Sublett (Bedford, VA/Staunton River) had four kills on six attempts. Junior Sydney Henson (Winston-Salem, NC/Ronald Reagan) had three aces in the match.
In the second match of the contest, Randolph won the first set 25-21 but couldn't rebound in falling to Averett 21-25, 25-17, 25-19 and 25-18. Jordan Templin (Ferrum, VA/Franklin Co.) chalked up her third double-double of the season, going for 15 kills and a game-leading 16 digs. Sophomore Grayce Darden (Martinsville, VA/Martinsville) had eight kills and a service ace, and Rhodes added seven kills and two aces. Setters Andrea Mewhinney (Sanford, NC/Overhills) and Kerry McMichael (Westminster, SC/West Oak) each had 16 assists for Randolph.
The WildCats will return to the floor Wednesday evening with a home ODAC match against the Quakers of Guilford College at 7 p.m. in the Randolph Athletics and Dance (RAD) Center.
