Randolph Volleyball Drops ODAC Contest to Randolph-Macon Tuesday Evening

LYNCHBURG, VA — Reigning Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Player of the Week Mallory Carter had a game-high 25 kills as the Yellow Jacket of Randolph-Macon College knocked off Randolph College volleyball team in three games Tuesday evening. The scores were 25-11, 25-18 and 25-17 in action from the Randolph Athletic and Dance (RAD) Center.

Playing with only seven players for the majority of the match due to injuries, the WildCats struggled to keep pace with the defending ODAC Champions. Carter was on fire in the first set, finishing with nine kills on 15 attempts. She would not let up, posting 10 kills the next game.

In the third game, Randolph (6-5/1-3 ODAC) rallied from an early deficit to tie the game at 11 thanks to the serving from Megan Wheatley (Sperryville, VA/Rappahannock Co.). R-MC (10-2/4-0 ODAC) posted the next five points and nine of the next ten to pull away.

The WildCats were led in the kill column by first-year Jordan Templin (Ferrum, VA/Franklin Co.) , who finished with six kills and six digs. First-year Katherine Lesnak (Blountville, TN/Sullivan Central) had five kills, six assists and five digs, while Wheatley posted a team-best 11 digs and three assisted blocks. First-year libero Lexi Harrington (Clemmons, NC/West Forsyth) had 10 digs for Randolph.

Carter finished with a line of 25 kills on 40 attempts, chalking up a hitting percentage of .600 to go with 11 digs. Jessica Sears had eight kills and 15 digs for the Yellow Jackets, and Maggie Holbert played two games and posted a game-best 25 helpers. Caroline Brown had eight digs and three aces in the win.

The WildCats will return to non-conference play on Saturday, as they host the Rams of Bluefield College at 1 p.m. in the RAD Center.
