Alex Scheer

Scheer was named Sports Information Director in August 2026 for Randolph College's Department of Athletics. He will in overseeing communications for Randolph's 23 intercollegiate athletics programs including supervising the department's website and social media accounts, along with crucial roles in game day management, statistics, and media relations.. 

Scheer has served as an assistant in two well-respected Division III SID offices over the past two years at Augustana College (Ill.) and Heidelberg University (Ohio). While at Heidelberg, Scheer led the transition to broadcasting with FLOSports. His resume includes play-by-play and color commentary experience for soccer, softball, and volleyball. Scheer also represented Heidelberg at the 2025 NCAA Emerging Leaders Seminar and was named to the 2025 Emerging Elite program by College Sports Communicators, recognizing and developing promising leaders in athletic communications.

Beyond just the on-campus highlights, Scheer also has experience at the regional and national levels, including serving as a band and spirit liaison for the 2026 NCAA Final Four.
He served as game day operations for the 2026 HCAC baseball tournament, game day operations for the 2025 Opendorse Bowl Series, and on the stats crew for the 2025-26 NCAA Division III National Championship.

Scheer's experience is not limited to traditional sports information duties. As a double graduate of the Mid-American Conference (Toledo, B.A. 2024; Ohio, M.A. 2026), Scheer created and then hosted and produced The MAC Sports Connection Podcast from 2019-25. It was the top-rated independent podcast dedicated to MAC athletics. He covered all varsity sports across the MAC, delivering comprehensive coverage while hosting and producing. While serving as a graduate student at Ohio, he earned the Class of 2026 Impact Award.

Additionally, the Lima, Ohio native also brings international experience from the quadball (quidditch) world. He held a key leadership position with US Quidditch, serving as the World Cup Marketing Director at the 2016 Quidditch World Cup in Frankfurt, Germany, where he oversaw a team of 10 to execute marketing, media, and promotional operations for the event featuring national squads from around the world.
