Prior to coming to Randolph, Robinson worked at Virginia University of Lynchburg, where he helped start the track and field program. While at VUL, Robinson coached seven athletes to the 2018 NCCAA National Championship in both Indoors and Outdoors, six of whom were All-Americans and an NCCAA-leading mark in the men's 4x100m at 41.32.

Before VUL, Robinson coached at Appomattox County High School, where he mentored the Raiders to multiple District and Regional Championships in addition to six individual state champions.
