Davis joined the Track And Field Staff in January 2021 season. Prior to coming to Randolph, he was a graduate assistant coach at Liberty from 2017-2019 coaching sprints and hurdles. He had also been a coach with Highlands Christian Academy and Broward Elite.
With the Flames, Davis was a Big South Conference champion for outdoor track in 2014, 2015, and 2017 in the 400 meter hurdles as well as the meet record holder in 2015. Davis also won the Big South Conference title in the 60 meter hurdles for indoor track in 2016. He appeared three times at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships East Preliminary First Round for the 400 meter hurdles from 2015-2017.
A team captain and the recipient of the Coaches Award in his senior year, Davis was recognized as part of the Big South Conference All-Decade team.
Davis has been instrumental in building the Randolph programs during his season as Associate Head Coach in 2021-22 Tory Brown broke school records in the 400 meters indoor and outdoor along with the 4x400m relay. Davis helped coach Meghan Chaffins to a second place finish at the 2022 ODAC Indoor Championships in the high jump Chaffins also set school records in the high jump, long jump, and triple jump earning USTFCCCA all-region. Chaffins was also named Randolph College women’s athlete of the year. The women's 4x400 and 4x100 relay teams also broke program records.
In Davis' first year as Men’s Head Coach, Cody Thompson broke the cross country school record in the men’s 8,000m, along with records during the indoor season in the 800m, 1,000m, mile and was part of the 4x400m quartet that broke the school record. Jayden Watkins broke school records in the men’s indoor shot put, and outdoor pole vault and was named a USTFCCCA all-region in the heptathlon and decathlon in which he also established school records earning him Randolph College Men’s Rookie Athlete of the year Award.
In Davis' second year, Cody Thompson became Randolph’s first men’s cross country All-conference and All-region athlete running a school record time of 25:35.30. Tanner Cochran followed in a great season becoming number 2 in program history running 26:35.Â
The Indoor season of 2023-24 saw one of Randolph's best seasons in program history. Eric West led the sprints as a first year earning school records in the 400m winning the ODAC title and 200m where he was ODAC runner up, along with leading the 4x200 and 4x400 to program records earning him the ODAC Men’s Rookie of the Year. Cody Thompson placed 2nd in the conference 800m and established school records in the 800m, 1k, mile, and 3k. Cole Torres and Mario Carter both placed in the 60mh finals at the conference meet being one of 2 teams to place multiple hurdlers in the finals. The men placed 5th in the conference scoring more points than they ever had previously at the championship.
The outdoor season saw school records in both men’s and women’s 4x100m and 4x400m relays with the mens' first 4x400m ODAC conference title. Jordan Edwards placed 3rd in the 200m at conference with a school record 21.90. Eric won the 400m title in 48.20 ultimately winning ODAC Men's Rookie of the Year for outdoor as well as Randolph College male rookie of the year. Cody Thompson broke the 1500m school record and ran a school record time of 1:51.17 in the 800m ultimately earning Randolph College’s Male Athlete of the Year. Jayden Watkins earned a school record and second place finish in the javelin at conference. Jessica Taylor set school records in the 400m, 800m, 400mh, and the heptathlon and helped break records in the 4x400m and 4x100m relays for the women's team. The men's team placed 6th scoring more points than any previous year. Overall in the 23-24 season the men broke 23 school records, 3 conference champion performances, 10 All-conference performances, 10 All-region performances, 7 All-State performances, 2 ODAC Rookies of the Year, 1 VaSID Rookie of the Year and Randolph's Male Rookie of the Year and Male Athlete of the Year.Â
Since being at Randolph all programs combined have had over 50Â school records.
Davis has a Bachelor of Science in Counseling and Human Development from Liberty. He is a Level 2 USATF certified coach specializing in Sprints/Hurdles/Relays and a USA Weightlifting Level 1 certified coach.
