Men’s Tennis Ranked 48th Nationally in ITA Rankings; Martin Ranked 15th Regionally

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released the latest Division III Men's Tennis Computerized Team National and Regional Rankings. Randolph is ranked #48 out of 75 teams in the nation.

The WildCats are one of five teams from the ODAC to receive national rankings. They join Shenandoah (40), Washington and Lee (42), Virginia Wesleyan (60), and Averett (64).

Randolph moved up in the rankings in part due to wins last week against the Hornets (ranked 37th) and the Marlins (ranked 58th). Both 5-2 victories were the first for the 'Cats over those schools since 2017. Earlier in the season, the WildCats defeated current #62 the University of Rochester 4-3 in Hilton Head, S.C. They will face their third ranked opponent in a row when they travel to #27 Christopher Newport on Saturday.

In addition, junior Jacob Martin is ranked #15 out of 20 players in the Atlantic South region. He is the first WildCat in program history to be regionally ranked. Dominick Suwak from Shenandoah (9) and Ricards Spaks (11) from Lynchburg are the others from the ODAC that are ranked.

This season, Martin is 13-4 overall in singles play. He was named the ODAC Singles Player of the Week on March 23 after defeating opponents from Guilford and Mary Washington. He was also ODAC Player of the Week on November 3 when he defeated defending ODAC Men's Tennis Player of the Year Suwak at the WildCat Invitational.

In the latest NCAA rankings, Martin is sixth out of eight in Region 4. Spaks is fourth and Suwak fifth.
