LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Randolph College women's track and field team hosted its annual WildCat Invitational on Saturday at WildCat Stadium.
The javelin throw took place on Friday where
Madison Somerville placed 10th with a 12.17-meter mark (39-11), and
Annabelle Anthony followed with a personal best of 11.15 meters (36-07). Anthony also put down a personal best of 17.61 meters (57-09) in the discus throw.
Shaniya Owens got the meet started for the WildCats in the 100m hurdles, running a time of 18.18 for sixth place. She also placed fourth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:15.80.
In the 100m dash,
Renya Russell ran a personal best of 12.70 for third overall.
Tatianna Langston came in sixth with a personal best time of 12.84.
Ryleigh Frayser came in at 14.13, and
Tyana Ayres came in at 14.37.
Brooklyn Brooks was the lone WildCat in the high jump and placed sixth with a height of 1.30 meters (4-03.25).
Anthony also took part in the hammer throw and threw a mark of 12.99 meters (42-07), and she threw 5.87 meters in the shot put.
Around the track,
Jessica Taylor set a personal best and school record in the 400m dash for second place, and that time currently sits 54th in the nation. Frayser ran 1:06.23, and Somerville ran a season best of 1:09.14.
In the 200m dash, Russell set a new personal best of 25.47 for second overall, and that time sits currently 85th in the nation. Taylor also ran a personal best of 25.48 for third place. Langston came through with a season best of 27.07 for sixth place, Ayres finished with 29.20 personal best, and Somerville came through with a season best of 30.47.
Kai Pegram competed in the long jump and put down a mark of 4.28 meters (14-00.50) for seventh place. Pegram also competed in the triple jump and finished fourth with a mark of 9.92 meters (32-06.50).
Wrapping up the meet was the 4x400 meter relay, where Russell, Frayser, Ayres, and Taylor took first place in 4:13.71.
