Taylor Breaks 400m Record, Women's T&F Impresses at Dennis Craddock Invite

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Randolph College women's track and field team made the short trip over to the University of Lynchburg to compete at the Dennis Craddock Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The meet was highlighted by one school record and several personal bests across the two days.

Jessica Taylor had the highlight of the meet, running an outdoor school record time of 57.74 in the 400m dash for third overall. That time is currently ranked 44th in the nation. She also placed seventh in the 200m dash with a time of 25.56 for a personal best. That time is currently ranked 64th in the nation.

In the sprints, Renya Russell led the WildCats in the 100m dash with a time of 12.70 for a personal best and a tenth overall finish. Russell also ran a personal best in the 200m dash in 25.51 to place sixth overall. That time is currently ranked 57th in the nation. Tatianna Langston clocked a 13.07, Tyana Ayres ran a personal best of 13.97, and Ryleigh Frayser came through at 14.09 as she finished in 29.48 in the 200m dash.

Shaniya Owens ran a personal best time of 17.87 in the 100m hurdles. Owens also competed in the 400m hurdles and ran a time of 1:16.17.


In the 400m dash, Frayser finished in 1:04.30 for a personal best and Madison Somerville came in at 1:11.57.

In the field, Annabelle Anthony put down two personal best marks in the discus throw (16.91 meters, 55-05) and the javelin throw (10.77 meters, 35-04). She also competed in the hammer throw and threw a mark of 11.49 meters (37.08). Somerville also came through with a personal best in the javelin throw with a mark of 14.23 meters (46.08).

Anthony threw 4.88 meters (16-00.25) in the shot put.

In the high jump, Brooklyn Brooks jumped a season best of 1.40 meters (4-07.00) to place eighth overall. Kai Pegram competed in the long jump and triple jump, in which she jumped a 4.37-meter mark (14-04.00) for the long jump and a tenth-place jump and personal best of 9.94 meters (32-07.50).

For the relays, the WildCat team of Ayres, Langston, Taylor, and Russell took fifth place in season-best time of 49.16. That time is currently ranks 69th in the country.

The WildCats return to WildCat Stadium to host their annual WildCat Invitational on Saturday and to recognize their graduating class.
