HILTON HEAD, S.C.- The Randolph women's tennis team played its first match of Spring Break as it faced Catholic University on Sunday afternoon. The Cardinals won the match 4-2.
The WildCats drop their first match of the season as their overall record now stands at 4-1.
Catholic took all three of the doubles matches to lead 1-0. In singles play, Mikayla Smith (Pittsville, Md./Parkside HS) won at fourth singles 6-0, 6-2 over Ava Niggenmeier. Amy Rigg (Charlottesville, Va./The Covenant School) was a 6-3, 6-1 winner aver Samantha D'Addezio at fifth singles. Maddie Mills (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend) won her first set at sixth singles 6-4 against Ryan Adesso and the second set was knotted at 6-6 but the match was stopped because of rain.
Randolph will next face Greenville University on Thursday. The match starts at 1:00 p.m.
