MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Randolph College men's track and field team posted a series of strong individual performances in their outdoor season opener at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Jeff Mendscole led the WildCats in the 100m, setting a personal best with a time of 11.10, closely followed by
Ja'mar Smith (11.12) and
Jahlil Weekes (11.13).
Leander Jackson opened with 11.21 and
Kyle Kurtz finished with 11.59.
Christian Humes also stood out in the 200m with a 22.54 finish. He was followed by
Emir Jackson in 22.66, Kurtz in 22.76, and Petcher in 23.50.
E. Jackson recorded a personal-best 50.37 in the seeded 400m, while Humes ran a 49.65 in the seeded 400m. In the 400m open, Petcher ran 53.01 and
Jacob Johnson came in at 54.53.
In field events,
Xavier White, in the discus threw 38.55m/126-05, in the hammer throw 41.72m/136-10, and in the shot put he threw 11.62m (38-01.50).
Savion Thomas recorded a personal-best triple jump of 13.71m (44-1.75), while
Ja'mar Smith jumped 12.88m (42-03.25) and
Xavier Calloway jumped 12.50m (41-00.25).
Smith added a 6.28m (20-07.25) long jump effort, Thomas had a 6.00m (19-08.25) mark, and Calloway jumped a 5.84m (19-02.00).
Jayden Watkins cleared 4.56m (14-11.50) in the pole vault collegiate group, securing a top-five finish for the WildCats.
Peyton Jackson also was top five in the pole vault open.
In the relays, the 4x100m 'B' team of Humes,
Jacob Johnson,
Kyle Kurtz, and
Xavier Calloway posting a time of 44.25.
The WildCats return to Lynchburg for the Dr. Jack Toms Invitational hosted by the University of Lynchburg on March 27-28.
