SALEM, Va. – The Randolph College women's track & field team turned in a strong showing at the 2026 ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, highlighted by multiple finalists, point-scoring performances, and an impressive relay finish. The team finished eighth among their competitors.
Renya Russell led the WildCats on the track, qualifying for the finals in the 60-meter dash after posting a 7.94 in prelims on day one of competition. Russell followed with a fifth-place finish in the finals at 7.92 (7.916), earning four team points. She also competed in the 200 meters, finishing ninth overall with a time of 26.51.
In the 60-meter hurdles prelims,
Shaniya Owens recorded a time of 10.93.
The 200-meter dash featured three Randolph competitors, with
Jessica Taylor placing 11th overall in 26.60.
Tatianna Langston finished 17th at 27.59, while Russell added her second top-10 finish of the meet.
Taylor also delivered a point-scoring performance in the 400 meters, finishing seventh with a time of 59.85 to collect two points for Randolph.
Madison Somerville competed in the same event, clocking in at 1:11.78.
In the middle-distance events,
Ryleigh Frayser represented Randolph in the 800 meters, finishing with a time of 2:42.02.
Field events saw
Kai Pegram compete in both the long jump and triple jump. Pegram recorded a mark of 3.87 meters (12-8.50) in the long jump and followed with a 9.50-meter (31-2.00) effort in the triple jump.
The WildCats capped the meet with a strong performance in the 4x400-meter relay. The team of Russell, Owens, Langston, and Taylor finished fifth overall with a time of 4:20.78, earning four more points for Randolph.
The 'Cats will now prepare for the outdoor season with the first meet on March 19-21 for the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
