LEXINGTON, Va. - The Randolph College men's track and field team traveled to the VMI Winter Relays (Multis) this weekend.
The first day of competition saw
Jeff Mendscole run a personal best of 7.09 in the 60-meter dash prelims. His teammates,
Ja'mar Smith, came in at 7.19, and
Leander Jackson finished in 7.28. In the 60-meter hurdles prelims, Smith ran 8.67, and
Mario Carter ran a 9.03.
Emir Jackson led the WildCats in the 400-meter dash with a 51.01.
Christian Humes came in at 51.63,
Landon Petcher finished in 53.56, and
Christopher Wills finished with a personal best of 53.96.
The 200-meter dash saw L. Jackson led the WildCats with a 22.89. E. Jackson followed in 23.12, Humes ran a season-best of 23.33, and
Kyle Kurtz rounded out the squad with a 23.63.
Aiden Bartulis and
Jacob Johnson both ran personal bests in the 800-meter run. Bartulis came in at 2:08.09, and J. Johnson came in at 2:10.70.
Edward Koroma was the lone WildCat in the 3000-meter run, in which he ran a 9:38.22 for a personal best.
In the field, Smith jumped to a 10th-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.71 meters (22-00.25).
Ashton Jackson put down a mark of 6.13 meters (20-01.50), and
Xavier Calloway jumped 6.06 meters (19-10.75).
In the triple jump, Carter finished with a 13.05-meter (42-09.75) mark.
Julio Alvarenga threw a season-best in the shot put of 11.68 meters (38-04.00) and
Xavier White followed with an 11.37 meter (37-03.75) throw. White also competed in the weight throw and threw a 14.51-meter (47-07.25) mark.
In the pole vault,
Peyton Jackson cleared 3.65 meters (11-11.75) to tie for seventh and A. Jackson cleared a personal best of 3.65 meters to finish ninth.
The 'Cats are back in action on Feb. 14 for the Joe LaRocco hosted by Roanoke College.
