ROANOKE, Va.- The Randolph women's tennis team played its first match of the spring season as they faced Hollins in an ODAC match. The WildCats defeated HU 7-0.
The 'Cats claimed all three doubles matches to take one point. Both second and third doubles were 6-0 scores. At first doubles, Sophia Cahue (Aurora, IL/Metea Valley HS) and Fleur Gaalman (Abcoude, Utrecht, Netherlands/Haarlemmermeer Lyceum Dalton) defeated Rachel Hull and Zlina Robinson-Knox 6-2.
Rachel Combs (Benbrook, Texas/Homeschool) and Mikayla Smith (Pittsville, Md/Parkside) won their first and second singles matches in straight sets. Amy Rigg (Charlottesville, Va./The Covenant School) was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Sasha Mingo. Maddie Mills (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend) won her fourth singles match 6-1, 6-1 over Anna Starman. Natalie Thompson (Rutherfordton, N.C./Polk County HS) shut out Jade Thompson at #5 and Lexi Carlsen (Colleyville, Texas/Homeschool) was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Sadie Henshaw at #6.
Randolph hosts Trinity Washington University on Saturday. The match begins at 1:00 p.m.
