GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Randolph College women's swimming team turned in a strong showing on Day 2 of competition.
Katelyn Spuchesi highlighted the day for the WildCats in the 500 freestyle, finishing 16th with a time of 5:33.78 to qualify for the B-final later that evening. In the finals, she finished 16th and improved her preliminary time to 5:32.30.
Rio Bucy followed with a solid swim of 5:46.57, while
Kaitlyn Heckman recorded a time of 6:00.27.
Katie Scifres touched in at 6:05.76,
Maddie Dyl finished in 6:11.51, and
Katya Zaitsev rounded out Randolph's entries in the event with a time of 6:12.66.
In the 200 individual medley,
Alaura Arringdale represented Randolph with a time of 2:33.26.
The WildCats also competed in the 50 freestyle, led by
Taylor Eshelman's time of 25.47. Abby Ward followed closely at 26.07, while Zaitsev added another race to her day with a 30.25 finish.
Randolph then opened the evening session in the 200 freestyle relay, as the team of Spuchesi, Eshelman, Ward, and Bucy combined for a 7th-place finish with a time of 1:45.72.
The 400 Medley Relay saw Ward, Arringdale, Heckman, and Scifres swim into seventh place for a time of 4:39.25.
After day two, the WildCats sit in seventh place with 75 points. Tomorrow's session starts at 10 a.m. with the evening session beginning at 6 p.m.
